Colt Mackenzie McNair (CMM) is working closely with Berkhamsted Golf Club to assist them in the recruitment of a General Manager to lead the overall day-to-day efficient running and management of the Club, along with delivery of services to its members and guests.

Leading a strong and committed team, the General Manager will be pivotal in elevating standards, maintaining financial stability and enhancing member satisfaction. The ideal candidate will possess a blend of business acumen, service orientation, critical thinking abilities, and comprehensive experience in golf and hospitality operations. They should exhibit strategic thinking, decisiveness, strong leadership, and high engagement skills.

Berkhamsted is a busy, inclusive, financially sound club that has a strong golf focus. Founded in 1890, the course sits within 520 acres of heathland on Berkhamsted Common with Golf Club Trustees overseeing the non-golfing activities of the Estate, engaging with external stakeholders including The National Trust and other conservation NGOs. Berkhamsted prides itself on its sustainability credentials, both on the golf course and on the additional 350 acres owned by the Club. As golf grew in popularity in the 1920’s, Gowring’s original layout was redesigned and extended by James Braid. Little has since changed. The reputation of the Club is founded on the unique nature of the course which is entirely natural with no man-made hazards.

A focal point each year is the renowned Berkhamsted Trophy, a World Amateur Golf Ranking Event (WAGR), that attracts top golfers annually, with past winners including Sandy Lyle, Luke Donald and Andy Sullivan.

The Club has a vibrant social scene with extensive lounge, patio and bar facilities, Berkhamsted GC regularly hosts both members’ and guests’ functions. Driving increased revenues whilst minimising the impact on members is a key challenge.
