POSITION OVERVIEW

Title: Director of Golf

Reports to: General Manager

Supervises: Head Golf Professional, Assistant Golf Professionals, Outside Services staff

General Purpose: The Director of Golf leads the Les Bordes golf operations from both a tactical and strategic level. Reporting to the General Manager, the Director of Golf is responsible for delivering an exceptional golf experience by continuously developing and reviewing all aspects of the golf operation. The Director of Golf will take personal responsibility for and be involved in promoting and coordinating golf experiences for potential Les Bordes buyers and club members, as well as their accompanied guests.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Provide a clear vision of the Les Bordes Golf experience, involving the golf staff as well as managers from other Les Bordes departments.
  • Prepare and consistently review the business plan for golf operations.
  • Prepare a quarterly written report for the General Manager.
  • Grow participation in Les Bordes golf membership.
  • Design and deliver a comprehensive tournament program.
  • Develop budgets and manage assets to meet both financial goals and the all-encompassing exceptional golf experience.
  • Oversee the care and maintenance of all physical assets, inventory, and resources of golf.
  • Oversee the annual approved golf club capital projects.
  • Oversee retail operations. Significant involvement in purchasing and merchandising of both soft goods and hard goods.
  • Oversee, promote, and coordinate the teaching and instruction programs.
  • Coordinate with Food & Beverage management to ensure the ultimate golf experience.
  • Recruit, train, and retain professional staff to deliver on key objectives.
  • Recruitment, training, and retention of hourly staff and intern programs.
  • Ensure qualified PGA professionals are available and proactively engage with members and outside golf rounds.
  • Promote and develop in-house training.
  • Prepare capital expense proposals for budgeting.
  • Stimulate innovation and new ideas.
  • Become the expert on Netgolf, Golf Genius and other software programs that are part of the golf operations.
  • Consistently work with the Estate Manager and agronomy staff to ensure golf courses are meeting expectations.
  • Develop, market, and deliver introductory golf programs to new golfers.
  • Maintain open lines of communication and coordination between the golf service staff and golf maintenance staff, working together to ensure the highest level of golf experience.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Educational Requirements and Certifications:

  • PGA member and college degree or equivalency in experience.

Previous Experience Required:

  • 5-10 years of experience as a PGA professional, having served as Director of Golf or seasoned Head Professional at a high end private club.

Working Knowledge to be Acquired on the Job:

  • Abide by Les Bordes Estate policies and procedures and submit ideas for revision. Review of current tournament programs and propose improvements and changes; working knowledge of Netgolf; work independently with little supervision; courteous and helpful with Les Bordes Members and employees.
